Q: Is there really such a thing as legitimate credit repair?
A: Yes! The Credit Repair Organizations Act (CROA) was created by Congress in
2003 to
regulate credit repair organizations and how they must comply with the law.
To find
out if a credit repair agency is complying with the law, review the CROA at www.ftc.gov/os/statutes/croa/croa.htm. There are many unscrupulous "credit repair agancies" out there who offer new credit files, guarantee score increases, etc. Watch out for these! A new credit file is illegal.
Q: Is credit repair legal?
A: Yes! Section 611 of the The Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA) protects your right to
dispute inaccurate, incomplete, misleading, unverifiable or outdated information on
your credit Report. Any inaccurate, incomplete, misleading, unverifiable or outdated
information must be deleted from your credit report. We are a licensed credit repair agency and regulated by the FTC and the Oklahoma Department of Consumer Credit.
Q: Is Safe Harbor Credit Repair licensed?
A: Yes! The State of Oklahoma requires that all credit service organizations be licensed by the Oklahoma Department of Consumer Credit. To see the complete list of Oklahoma licensed credit service companies, visit www.okdocc.state.ok.us.
Q: Do you guarantee your credit repair service?
A: No. By law, a credit repair agency cannot guarantee a specific outcome for using
our credit repair services. There is no way to guarantee a particular increase in your
score or specific results to any dispute, so it would be misleading to offer such a
guarantee.
Q: How do I get a free copy of my credit report?
A: By law, you can order one free credit report per year. You can order your credit
report on-line at www.annualcreditreport.com, or you can request your credit report
by mail using Annual Credit Report Request Form. more...
Q: What is the difference between a FICO credit score and the credit scores I get
from the credit reporting agencies?
A: The credit bureaus have created their own scores they sell to consumers. These
scores are useless to you, since FICO scores are the industry standard used by all
major lenders.
Q: How do I know if your credit repair service is working?
A:You will receive investigation results by mail from each credit reporting agency
about 45 days after a round of disputes. When changes take place, you will see one
of the following results: deleted, updated, remains, new information below, not found,
or previously investigated. We also recommend a credit monitoring service, which will allow you to see changes to your credit profile daily.
Q: What if a deleted items reappears on my credit report?
A: It's rare for an item to reappear once it's been deleted because of the legal issues
faced by the credit reporting agencies. If an item does reappear, we simply
challenge it again and strive for a permanent deletion.
Q: Can I cancel your service?
A: Yes. You can cancel our service at any time during the credit repair process. See our Legally Required Disclosure for more information about
cancellations.
